Things to Do in Gulf Place

Fishing has always been a part of the local economy. The Shunk family are long-time local fishermen and identified the area near what is now the Ed Walline Beach Access as one of their favorite fishing spots. Their partnership with the South Walton Artificial Reef Association preserves the natural beauty and ecosystems of the coastline. Shunk Gulley is more than a reflection of the area’s history; they also serve up a good time. You will find daily live music to go with excellent coastal views and southern hospitality.

The Gulley Amphitheater is an open-air music venue and host to a variety of concerts, festivals and more. Schedules vary.

Wine Walk Thursdays are probably the best-known event at Gulf Place. Held every third Thursday of the month, patrons enjoy hand-selected wines, small bites, giveaways and more! Start at the Artists of Gulf Place for your wine glass and map and enjoy the evening compliments of Gulf Place merchants.

Gulf Place Restaurants & Shopping

Breakfast & Brunch: Praise the Lard for the Perfect Pig. You’ve never had a grilled cheese like what they serve up at the Pig. If you are in a hurry, pop into Sunrise Coffee, for an iced coffee and one of Charlie’s donuts or their breakfast biscuits. Michele’s favorite muffin is the hard-to-get pistachio muffin - gotta get there early for that one!

Lunch: Need to feed a crowd? Pizza By The Sea serves up pizza, sandwiches, and pasta, the whole family will enjoy. Shelby’s Beach Bar and Grill features all the things you’d expect for a beach bar and grill, but check out their walking tacos - especially on your way down to the beach.

Supper and Snacks: You can enjoy a cocktail and watch the sunset on the second-floor patio at Shunk Gulley. There are plenty of TVs so you can watch the big game and listen to the waves crash at the same time. Roll Tide! Meghan considers herself somewhat of a smoked tuna dip aficionado, and Shunk Gulley’s serves one of her favorites! Walk over to Pecan Jacks and indulge in a gourmet sweet-lovers line of ice cream that reinvents the old classics like Banana Pudding and Peach Cobbler as well as adult flavors like Kahlua Espresso and Cherry Amaretto. Be sure to check out the extensive craft beer selection at Growler Garage, and if you are lucky, a local or two will be strumming a guitar to entertain you.

Retail Therapy: 30A Store has one of its locations here for everything you can put a 30a label on. Grab all your Beach Happy gear here. Don’t forget to grab a sticker - or 10! You can’t really say you came to 30a if you don’t leave with the iconic decal.

Soho Beach & Style is a popular beach boutique filled with “I need a new outfit“ options. They welcome sandy feet and their customer service is second to none.

You will want to check out YOLO Board + Bike because you only live once and should definitely try paddleboarding during that lifetime! Born here in Santa Rosa Beach, YOLO is more than a board shop, though. Be sure to check out their bikes and beach gear!
